Find a Rug for the Dining Room with Charish

Have you all checked out Charish?  It's a great site to find those unique items that are still at a reasonable price. And if you find the perfect thing for your room, and need to make space for it, you can use Charish to sell your no longer needed décor items. When they contacted me to ask if I would like to create a styleboard around one of their rugs, I jumped at the chance. I have been on the hunt for just the right rug for our dining room for some time now. Since our dining room furniture, which came from the house I grew up in, is on the traditional side, I wanted something with a little more modern look to act as a contrast.

Here are a few that that I found on Charish that I considered.

Such great eye candy, right?! I was so impress with the selection.

But my favorite was this one.

I thought it was just the right look I was going for in the dining room. Traditional pattern with a bold modern color. Here is how I see the rug used in the room with the traditional furniture I have and a few blue and white accessories added in.

Now if I can just convince my husband that it is the one, I will be all set. Have you ever checked out Charish? Found anything good?

Blue and White Stripes

Stripes are very in right now. I see them everywhere. Such a classic yet chic pattern. Normally you will find them in Black and White, but since blue is my favorite color, I am often drawn to Blue and White as the main parts of the stripes.

I put together a few eye candy pictures using the Blue and White stripes in a table cloth. A great, and a little unique way, to use the pattern. That color combination looks so light, calm,  and a little nautical to me. Great for decorating your Spring table for both inside and outside dining.

A navy blue and white striped table is set with a matching table number, menus and monogrammed napkins. See more #wedding decor inspiration: http://ccwed.me/JVfL3O

Decorate the Table for Thanksgiving

We are all traveling to my in-laws for the Thanksgiving holiday. They have all the cooking part handled for the big meal, so since I still wanted to find a way to contribute, I offered to create a center piece for the dinner table.

I needed inspiration, so I did a little research.
Last Minute Thanksgiving Preparations

I think I will use pumpkins, gourds, and squash as the main part of the centerpiece. I like the idea of a "bounty of the harvest" theme. I also have a few tea lights left over from our Halloween pumpkins that I can scatter around the length of the table.

I like the idea of adding a black and white striped fabric to the table. Hopefully, I can find some napkins to fit the bill.

I love this free printable, and will definitely make this banner. It gave me the idea to add an activity to the festivities. I am going to have everyone write on a colorful piece of paper what they are thankful for. Then I will hang them up on another piece of ribbon hung below the banner, so everyone in the family can see them.

After checking out all these ideas, I think I will be able to pull together a very nice centerpiece for the table.

I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

Decorate for Fall

Fall is in the air. I love the crispy weather and the beautiful clear blue skies. Watching the leaves change to their bright, brilliant hues is one of my favorite things all year.

It's time to decorate the house with a few fall themed items.

I decorated the table with gourds and squash that I hollowed out to use as vases for flowers. Click here for the tutorial.

The vase on the end table normally holds fresh flowers from our garden through the spring and summer months. Now that the weather has turned, wheat  is more fitting for the season.

I added the same thing to a vase on our bookcases in the living room. The painting is by one of my favorite artist...my older son.

Finally, I few items were added to the front porch. I will add more in a few weeks as the Halloween season approaches, so I kept it fairly simple for now.

Stay tuned for tutorials of how I made the decorations.
